If your home has an NTI FTVN or TFTN boiler, or an HTP EFTU, check the model and full serial number against the recall announced October 29, 2026. The US recall covers about 4,700 boilers. Owners are told to stop using affected units and arrange a free repair through Ariston.
A recent installation does not rule yours out. Contractors and wholesalers sold the affected boilers from May 2021 through July 2026.
What can go wrong inside the boiler
Delayed ignition can crack the condensate dish inside the cabinet and let unburned gas collect. If that gas ignites, the front cover can detach. The recall identifies fire, carbon monoxide poisoning and impact hazards that can cause serious injury or death.
Ariston has received 34 reports of broken condensate dishes, including three incidents in which the front cover detached. One technician suffered a broken jaw while servicing a boiler.
Check the full serial number with Ariston
The recalled NTI boilers are gray, and the HTP boilers are black. Look for the model and serial number on the rating plate on the left side of the cabinet. Leave the front cover closed.
The model families are NTI FTVN150, FTVN150C, FTVN199, FTVN199C, TFTN150 and TFTN199, plus HTP EFTU150WBN, EFTU150WCN, EFTU199WBN and EFTU199WCN. Only specified serial ranges are recalled, so a matching model name is the start of the check.
Use the official recall notice linked in Sources to find those ranges. Send Ariston the complete serial number if the list is unclear. Do not clear a boiler using its installation date or a build date you work out from the serial number.
The published serial ranges use more than one format, and a simple numerical comparison can be misleading. We also found differences between dates derived from two HTP serial ranges and dates in Ariston's repair sheets. Ariston should confirm eligibility for those units rather than an owner trying to reconcile the dates.
Contact Ariston at 800-688-2575, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, or VCexchanger@ariston.com. Have the full model and serial number ready. Renters should tell their landlord promptly and share a photo of the plate if it is safely accessible.
If your boiler is recalled
Stop using it and contact Ariston to arrange the repair. Do not wait for a letter, since an owner who bought the house after installation may not be in the company's records.
Ariston says not to reset a boiler that has locked out on a fault. Leave the cover in place and have a certified technician handle inspection and repair. This is not a control-board replacement to attempt yourself.
The CPSC notice says owners who must continue using an affected boiler while waiting for repair need working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Ariston calls for alarms in the boiler room, on each level and outside bedrooms, following the alarm instructions and local codes.
That advice does not eliminate the recall hazards. Alarms cannot prevent a cover from detaching. Discuss temporary heat and freeze protection with Ariston and your heating contractor rather than deciding the boiler is safe because an alarm is nearby.
Arrange temporary heat before the house gets cold
Ask your contractor how to protect the heating system and household plumbing if the boiler stays off during freezing weather. Opening sink cabinets can help warm room air reach pipes. The Red Cross recommends keeping the home at least 55 °F when away during cold weather, but that is not a guarantee against every frozen pipe.
If you use portable electric heaters, keep combustible materials at least 3 feet away. Turn the heaters off when leaving the room or going to bed. Never use an oven to heat the home. These are the US Fire Administration's heating safety precautions.
Ariston estimates about three days from first contact for repair arrangements. Confirm the timing for your home before relying on that estimate, especially during a freeze.
What the repair includes
Ariston describes a replacement control board with revised software to reduce delayed ignition. The technician also inspects the condensate dish and replaces it at no charge if damaged.
The manufacturer's procedure includes a combustion test using a gas analyzer before the boiler returns to service. Ask the technician to confirm the test and show you the repair label placed on the cross brace or front cover.
CPSC describes the remedy as a free repair. Ariston says the kit is free and eligible labor costs are reimbursed. Confirm billing with Ariston and the contractor before work starts, and keep the repair paperwork.
